GETTING THERE & AWAY

To the conference venue

You can reach the conference venue through the main entrance of the building /National palace of culture/. On the left side are located elevators 1 and 2. Registration, Hall 7 (main hall) and Hall 9 are located on the 5th floor. The third hall for the thematic panels is located on the 6th floor - our team will assist you on the way.
NB: If you were asked about the purpose of your visit, please do not forget to tell the security that you will be participating in DI Conference on the 5th floor.

Cocktail party location:
In the park Hall is located next to the main building of the National Palace of Culture. The small building is called The little NPC and there you can find the venue on the second floor. Please see the map below:

 

Public transportation from the Airport

There is a bus line available from Sofia Airport to Sofia City Center – BUS 84 and second line – BUS 384, which connect the airport with the closest metro station.

The Metro Line is connecting Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport to Serdica Station where is the connection to the conference venue – National Palace of Culture

Price of one way ticket is 1,60 BGN

Taxis are available at Sofia Airport – Terminal 1 and 2, Sofia Main Railway Station and Sofia Central Bus Station. Fares may vary but typically prices are not more than 1 BGN per kilometer. Please be advised to order your taxi from the designated kiosks and do not take proposals from random drivers outside the stations/terminals. The distance Airport–Park hotel Moskva costs between 15 and 20 BGN.

SHUTTLE SERVICE

Transfers from the airport to the hotel and v.v. can be ordered to CIM Ltd. Organized by a special logistic system CIM representative will welcome each guest personally at Sofia Airport, lead him to the vehicle and help if necessary to handle problems with luggage and tickets. For the way back CIM will publish departure lists with exact set off time on info board next to the Registration desk to prevent problematical departure.

Prices are as follows:

  • One way transfer for 1 person – 16 Euro
  • One way transfer for 2 persons –20 Euro (all persons should subscribe at the same time)
  • Both ways transfer for 1 person – 30 Euro
  • Both ways transfer for 2 persons – 37 Euro (all persons should subscribe at the same time)

Transfers can be ordered from Sofia Airport, Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, Sofia Central Railway Station and Sofia Central Bus Station incl. Serdica Station.

Please, do not forget to add the sum for your transfers to your bank transfer.

GETTING AROUND
The central area of Sofia is not huge and is easily reachable within walking distance. Public buses and yellow cabs are the most prevalent modes of transportation. Public bus tickets cost 1,60 BGN (single ride) while an average taxi ride within the city is likely to costs ca. 7 BGN.

PASSPORTS & VISAS
Bulgaria has the European Union's Common Visa Policy as a member country accepting European citizens freely. All non-EU citizens are required to have a passport to enter the EU with the appropriate visas. You can find out more about visas at http://mfa.bg/en/pages/109/index.html. MONEY
The national currency is the Bulgarian Lev. Bank notes of the following denominations are in circulation: 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 Levs. 1 Euro = 1,95583 BGN.
There are numerous foreign exchange offices and ATMs around the city centre. It’s always prudent to carry a little foreign cash, however, in case you can’t find an ATM or bank office nearby. You can always change cash at the hotel, though the commission will be high.
Make sure you have enough of the national currency when you plan to visit local markets and shops.

TIPPING
When a gratuity is not included in your bill, which is usually the case, 10% is customary. If service is outstanding, you could go as high as 15%. With taxi drivers, you usually just round up the sum if you have been happy with the ride or for the sake of convenience.

CLIMATE
The climate in Bulgaria is moderate continental with beautiful blooming spring, dry and hot summer, long and pleasant autumn, and mild winter with lots of opportunity for skiing. The weather at the end of September might be warm and sunny but you may expect a lot of cold and rainy days. Daily temperatures usually range from 18 to 22 oC.
